Conspiracy

It's really disturbing how often the word "conspiracy" is now used online, and in modern media as a replacement for the word "fantasy". It actually means: "a secret plan or plot by a group to do something unlawful or harmful". In the last few years, I've seen it used more and more commonly online to imply that something is an imaginary fantasy scenario without basis in reality. So much so that a lot of people don't even seem to notice that the meaning is getting muddled. This seems quite convenient for those actually conspiring for unscrupulous ends

This is just one of several modern words whose meaning and context have been radically altered in order to serve a very different narrative than they have for many generations. I understand that the meaning of words organically shifts and changes over time, but what we're seeing isn't that. It's more like a page out of George Orwell's "1984". It's a concerted effort to change definitions in order to create traps, and shift the prevailing narratives that make up modern culture. It turns words into weapons for those seeking power. This has allowed dishonest actors to disguise their manipulation in order to confuse honest well meaning people into supporting pretty much anything

Truth and meaning aren't arbitrary, they're something that we've discovered, explored, and uncovered over the entirety of human history. We don't create truth. It exists independently from us. That's what makes it true. To treat truth like a purely human concept that's completely open to interpretation is dangerous, and destructive
